I am Gege Marjorie from Cameroon. Volunteering with Greenpeace Africa for over 5 years now and engaging with innovation trainers at the Mboa hub; a planet one project sponsored by Greenpeace Africa and Fryshuset.
I have also a 1 year old registered association called Emerge Africa which has as vision to train especially women and youths on skills that will build their capacity for sustainable development and their personal wellbeing. Also, Emerge Africa have been able to train over 200 youths including; 12 children from 7 to 25 years, 2 months ago, in a tech summer camp hosted by BIXO academy, on Personal leadership and softskills, using practical and engaging games and activities as learning toolkits.
In line with the goal for promoting climate action, Emerge Africa has a project on engaging over 3000 children and youths across 10 educational institutions comprising; 5 primary, 3 secondary and 2 universities already identied, in the Center region of Cameroon. This will be in collaboration with other affiliated local organisations and the networks from Greenpeace Cameroon and its local volunteers community where I also double as one of the volunteers leaders. This will increase climate awareness amongst children and youths for the intended 3 years for the pilot phase, as well as improve climate action while grooming young local climate champions, which is still lacking in Cameroon.
I hope to launch this project as soon as january 2024 and I hope that through this platform, I will meet funders who will relate with this very important vision that will go a long way to guarantee a future with well informed citizens of the earth, who are conscious of protecting the environment with their lifestyle and choices.
Thank you for onsidering this in advance and looking forward to the mentoring and support including words of encouragements or modifications that could make this vision better in terms of impact and outreach.
Wow - this sounds really amazing Marjorie. As we are also a new charity, my plan is to fundraise to build a pot that groups like yours can apply to. It would be great to help Cameroon secure more support 🍀
Hi Emmanual, I'm really glad to have you with us on this forum. The Movements Trust is on a mission to improve access to support for groups like yours. ✨
I I am Cyprienne from Cameroon and I am delighted to be part of Yours once again
